Hardware - Knobbies

English Rogers Knobbie Plates in chronalogical order. Far left is mid 1964, far right 1967.

There is a problem often encountered with Knobbie Plates in that the knobbie can become loose on the plate. In order to tighten it up again all that is required is that the part of the knobbie that protrudes to the back of the plate is "peened" back again. The same principle as the rivit. It can b seen that who ever made these knobbies was trying to come up with a solution to the knobbie coming loose over time. Eventually they put in small pins to stop the knobbie rotating. I am told that nothing like this happened in the USA. The inevitable conclusion is that these are English knobbies.
